The unique art of the Sand Mandala comes from the Tibetan Tantric Buddhist tradition. Starting on 26th June, the intricate pattern is built up of millions of grains of coloured 'sand'. The moving Destruction Ceremony is on 2nd July, when the Buddhas are released to return to their own realms.
